Found this art deco hood ornament on a 1936 Nash convertible at Mooneyes RatFink Reunion. Must be some aftermarket thing, I have never seen anyone like it!

No this isn't an after market hood ornament. This was used on the early builds of the second series of 1936 Nash '400' models. The first series had the same finned hood ornament mounted on a flat base. The earliest of the second series had the finned hood ornament(as in this photo) mounted on a curved base. Later there was a torpedo looking hood ornament used on the second series. Hood ornaments as in this picture are rare.
